10:20PM - hello deltas!!
I noticed this community has been really quite recently, so I thought I would start a topic and get us all talking again.
What chapter is everyone from, what is your initiation year, and if you are an Alumni where are you now?
I am from the Theta Lambda Chapter at Colorado State University and was initiated in 2004 as a sophomore so I just went Alum in May. I am currently in Austin, Texas getting my grad degree at UT.

4:43AM - Pine Tree Dinner
I was wondering if anyone had ever done or attended a Pine Tree Dinner with their chapter. It is an old tradition, revolving around Christmas and the connection with the pine tree, our VPCD wants to bring it back and as Cont. Ed (historian) I’ve been put in charge of finding out what this tradition is all about and what gets done at this dinner. if you have any ideas or know where i could look for further info (the big centennial history book mentions Pine Parties which are to use the pine in as many ways as possible, but this seems a bit vague) please let me know, i would love to bring a fun tradition back to my house.

These are the rules for any Tri Delt Chapter web page, and I took some parts that should also apply to any Tri Delta related behavior on the web. I think most groups have similar policies in force.
Delta Delta Delta Fraternity (the "Fraternity") realizes due to the popularity of the World Wide Web, chapters may desire to establish a site on the Internet’s World Wide Web (a "Web Site"). Therefore, the Fraternity has established the following guidelines which should be followed by all collegiate/alumnae chapters wishing to establish their own Web site.
Our chapters are representatives of the Fraternity’s positive reputation and must strive continually to enhance that reputation. The quality of the information published by chapters and members plays an important role in maintaining good public relations for the Fraternity. Web site pages are public relations documents and have the potential to reach millions of people all around the world. Each Web site document must comply with:
# Adhere to all Fraternity guidelines and policies regarding publicity as outlined in the Bylaws of Delta Delta Delta and the Delta Delta Delta Policy Notebook.
# Promote a positive image of the chapter, university or college and the Fraternity.
# Not post anything that may damage or otherwise injure the Fraternity or any of its members or in any way jeopardize the Fraternity.
# Remember anyone "surfing" the World Wide Web can access your Web site, therefore, protect the privacy and safety of the Fraternity and its members. The Fraternity highly discourages the use of:
* information about the Fraternity Ritual,
* photographs of chapter members (including chapter composites),
* specifics regarding time and location of chapter events,
* chapter house facility address and phone numbers or personal information about members (including photographs, addresses and phone numbers).
# Not address confidential Fraternity or internal chapter matters on the chapter’s Web site.

Just some bragging from a proud Alumna Adviser....
Tonight the Alpha Alpha Chapter at Adelphi initiated 16 incredible new members and 1 honor initiate to bring their total to 51 members. Above total for the first time in years. I'm so proud of my girls.

10:14PM - Chants?
I have a question/favor to ask. I am on a hunt for more chants for our chapter to do during recruitment, we currently only know 2 and this is just not cutting it. We know "I am a T I am a T-R I am a T-R-I D-E-L-T-A" and one which goes "way down in Colorado at CSU where the Tri-Delts are so very true, colors silver gold and blue Tri-Delts want a sister like you we got a D E L T A, we got a D E L T A, we got a D E L T A, pledge Tri-Delta what do you say" and that’s it. I am sure these are chants everyone has just inset your state and school and what I am hoping to find is other chants we can use during recruitment. Our school is de-formalizing recruitment so all we are going to be allowed to do is chant, no singing, so we need more options. Please help me, if you don't know of any but know where I might find some please let me know that as well. I am looking for anything and I've got until August to come up with some more amazing chants. Thank you.

I'm a member at large, and would like to go alumn. Do I need to be present to do that? I live several states away now and it would be really hard to do that. I tried to email someone at my chapter about it, but they never responded. Can someone help me out?

2:54PM - Michelle Shimberg
Yesterday Michelle Shimberg (current national president of Delta Delta Delta) came to visit my chapter (Theta Beta, University of Colorado). I have to say, I was really nervous 'coz I know that the Executive Board has been less than pleased with us in the past couple years (we've had a few incidents of members using alcohol irresponsibly), but she was so nice!! Everyone really enjoyed her visit, and she even hugged our president before she left! She was so positive and encouraging. She let us ask questions, which she answered honestly, and gave us an idea of what TriDelta was like from her side. If any of you have met her, I'm sure you know what I mean!
Anyways, she said several times how impressed she was with our chapter, and it was such an exciting experience, I thought I'd share it with all of you!!
also, as a fun sidenote, I found out that the wife of the President of our school (University of Colorado) is a TriDelt from my chapter!!! Yay!

11:11AM - Senior Gifts?
I was just made continuing education chair (basically chapter historian) for my house, which means I am in charge of the senior gifts. I was wondering if anyone had any cute ideas. I want to try and do things which will be functional and something you would want to use as an alumni, not just flip flops or some little nick knack with letters on it. I have to do a gift a month for the next semester so I need as many ideas as you can throw out. Thank ya'll so much.

11:29PM - informal recruitment
Hello Lovely Ladies,
Our chapter is very small (<30 girls) and we have just switched to informal recruitment this semester. We've just had sponsor revelation for 9 ladies, and on the same day voted on 2 more girls. My question is...
How does your chapter handle subsequent New Members that weren't included in the first round of New Members? These girls will all be doing the same initiation, but how does a 2nd Bid Day work for just 2 girls, more rituals, etc. We want to ensure that they don't feel left out. Any tips?
Also, what are other chapters doing for Sponsor classes? Are you having them, and what is discussed?

12:01AM - YAY Recruitment!
I just wanted to announce how thrilled the Beta Upsilon Chapter (UC IRVINE) of Delta Delta Delta is of our newest Beta Beta pledge class, pinned as of Wednesday!
28 amazing ladies!!!
I LOVE TRIDELTA!!!

Are any of you alum from the Colorado area? If so, my chapter (Theta Beta at CU) is having an alumna tea this weekend, if you are interested in attending, let me know!
Delta Love, Alison
2:28PM - Mom/Dot or Big/ Little
I was just wondering if your houses use Mom/Dot or Big/Little for sponsors and their new members? Our house has had Mom/Dot for years and this year our sponsor chair wants to change it. This has caused quite the ruckus in the house. What do ya'll think? Do you have a preference and if so why?
We think we are the only Tri-Delta chapter in the country that uses mom/dot...does anyone know if this is true?
Thank ya'll so much for your time!

11:49AM - My unscientific poll
Okay, I looked at all of your suggestions. The first thing I did was just change the colors of the layout. I'm willing to spring for a paid account if one of you can pretty this journal up with a Tri Delta theme.
Here are the other suggestions posted:
--I think we could share fond Tri Delta memories and give chapter updates. Also post upcoming events for alums =)
-- conversation topics...what does you chapter do for such and such event, post acomplishments of different houses, pictures of events we are involved in
-- posting weekly questions like that would help with recruitment and fun: ex. kinds of exchanges, what works for chapters during recruitment, fun shirts
-- better discussion of ideas
-- Invite chapters individually to join!
-- update the colors & style so it's not so gloomy, try to get people to post more often so it's current with what's going on instead of months old news.

I hope everyone is having a good summer. Anyway, with many of our minds turned toward recruitment, I was thinking our community here on LJ could use some sprucing up and vitalization. I made a poll and feel free to comment with other suggestions.

6:57PM - Bragging
I just want to congratulate my girls because I'm so proud of them. They accomplished so much this year. Monday at the Scholarship Tea the Alpha Alpha chapter won Adelphi's Chapter of the Year for the fourth year in a row! They also had the highest GPA of the sororities and Robyn Watts had the highest GPA of all Adelphi Greeks. They also won the Best Philanthropy Event for their bachelor auction and most likely to be seen wearing letters on campus. They make my job as AA easy! I love you Alpha Alpha!
